The Three Questions That Can Change Your Life Forever

The Three Questions that can change your life forever

Life is full of questions that need to be answered. From the big questions like “Do I really want to go to college?,” to the everyday questions like “Does this shirt look good on me?” or “What am I having for lunch today?”

But have you ever tried tackling the questions that actually matter—the ones that can change the way you see yourself and your life?

Sometimes when questions get a little too deep like “Why am I here?” or “What is my purpose in life?” we shut down because they can feel overwhelming.

But here’s the good news: there are three questions that have simple answers—and their consequences could be life-changing. The first two can be answered with a simple “yes” or “no,” and the third is pure common sense. Ready? Let’s dive in:

Question 1: Do you believe that there is a God?

If the answer to this is no, you can stop right here. The rest of this post won’t make sense. But if the answer is yes, the next question is:

Question 2: Do you believe that Jesus is God?

Same deal: if the answer is no, you can bail now.

But if your answer to both questions is yes—that God exists, and that Jesus is God—then it leads to the truly life-changing question:

Question 3: Why don’t you do what Jesus teaches?

It’s not a trick question. Too many people live their entire lives convinced that Jesus is God but never commit to following Jesus’ teachings.

Jesus didn’t come to be admired—He came to save us and to show us the way to heaven.

He literally says:

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

If you believe that God exists and that Jesus is the God-Man, then the next step is obvious: follow what He teaches.

And if you have no idea what He teaches? You have two main options (there are many more, but let’s keep this simple).

Visit a Catholic Parish

Go to your nearest Catholic parish (just search “Catholic parish near me” if you’re not sure where to begin). They can guide you to resources that will help you understand the Catholic faith and grow in it. Someone will gladly help you.

If you don’t want to drop by the office, then find out the Mass times on their website and go to Mass. Going to Catholic Mass is the single most important step you can take to begin understanding and actually living what Jesus taught. That’s the reason the Mass exists—to share and explain the teachings of Jesus found in the Bible week after week.

In the Mass you will not only hear the Word of God and how it relates to our daily lives, but you will also be in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. More on that in future posts.

The second resource is to:

Read the Bible

If you feel inspired to open your Bible for the first time, here are two tips:

  1. Make sure it is a Catholic Bible (yes, there’s a difference).
  2. Get some guidance as you read it.

While the bible isn’t “hard to read,” it can be hard to understand without help. It’s like visiting a foreign city for the first time and trying to see all of the landmarks without a map or translator—good luck with that!

A fantastic guide is Walking with God: A Journey Through the Bible by Tim Gray & Jeff Cavins. It’s worth every penny.

If you’re wondering where to start reading the Bible as a Catholic, or what Bible you should get, don’t worry—I’ll cover that in future posts as well.

Need another option? Stick around here on our blog 😬. My goal is to make the Catholic faith a little easier to understand—whether you’re new, curious, or still finding your way.

I encourage you to begin on your learning journey today. I promise: the more you learn, the more you’ll want to learn about the God who loves you and wants the best for you.

God Bless!
